The Minnetonka Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) was chartered in the year 1959 in Chaska, Minnesota constituting 39 members.

The chapter's first show was "Parade of Quartets" at the Chaska High School that first year and the auditorium was packed with an audience that wanted to hear this new chorus and their special musical arrangements.

After meeting in Chaska for seven years a move was made closer to the Metro area in order to enhance recruitment of new members.

Over the years the chorus grew in size and many quartets were formed within the chorus.  The chorus and their quartets had produced an annual show that had always been a big hit with barbershop harmony lovers; the music never losing its appeal.  In addition the chorus has always made it a goal to provide  community servics within the area often performing at senior centers, nursing homes churches and numerous other venues at no cost.  The foot tapping and smiles of the audience were reward enough.

Eventually the decision was made to improve the practice venue and locate it at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church,a local church near Hopkins Crossroad in order to attract more members, and the results were more than satisfying; the membership increased to over 100!  The annual shows began to be performed in Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis however when the cost of that location became prohibitive, the annual show was moved to the Hopkins Center for the Arts.

Over the many years the chorus has frequently participated in the divisional barbershop singing contests.  On several occasions, the chorus scored enough qualifying points to go on to compete in the larger area district contest.  In more recent years, the membership aged and the chorus lost some great friends and members.  In an effort to reverse this trend, the chorus has just recently embarked on a new program to recruit new members.  All men without regard to age, race, religion, or social standing are always welcome and invited to join in the fun of singing the great four part barbershop sound.
